The University Library of Passau only accepts book gifts if they complement and support the acquisition profile of the University Library in research and teaching. The University Library is under no obligation to accept the literature offered. The decision on the acceptance of book gifts is made by the respective subject librarian. The donation to the University Library is always unconditional.
In the case of larger book gifts, we always request a list in advance. Unsolicited gifts of books will be returned with costs.
Literature that is sent to the University Library but not included in the collection can be collected by the donor within 6 months. After this period, the literature is at the disposal of the University Library and can be disposed of if necessary.
A donation receipt can be issued for current and required literature that is added to the University Library's collection for amounts over €100.
