For information on librarian training, internships and the job profile of a librarian, please contact Maria Hochecker, Head of Training at Passau University Library.
Librarian training for the academic library service in Bavaria takes place internally within the Bavarian administration - separated into the third and fourth qualification levels (formerly higher and higher library service).
At the beginning of the training programme, candidates are appointed as civil servants on revocation. They receive a candidate's salary for the duration of their training. The library training centres are the Bibliotheksakademie Bayern (for the fourth qualification level) and the Fachbereich Archiv- und Bibliothekswesen at the Hochschule für den öffentlichen Dienst in Munich (for the third qualification level). The practical training phases can be completed at Passau University Library and at various other academic libraries in Bavaria.
