Since 13 February, the University Library has again been fitted with a needs-based and free scanning infrastructure. The Central Library as well as the Nikolakloster, Business Administration & Economics and Juridicum reading rooms are each equipped with a professional book scanner.
In the Informatics/Mathematics reading room, a ScanTent offers high-quality scanning of books with your own smartphone. It's a small tent, and you simply need to place your smartphone on top. The material to be scanned must be placed inside the tent. To access various scan functions, the manufacturer recommends using the free DocScan app (Android version, iOS version).
Since 2020, the University Library has also been offering a scanning service for all University members and external users. Through this service, scans can be ordered online at no cost, on the condition that copyright restrictions are observed.
Due to the critical budget development, the University Library was forced to terminate the leasing contracts for the previous scanners in the reading rooms, which amounted to a mid-five-figure sum per year, and to dismantle these devices on 15 January.
